Emerald Isle’s 50th Birthday Celebration- “Dinner and a Movie”
Alicia Baucom of Cape Carteret, winner of ABC’s “Desperate Housewives, Desperate for Dinner†challenge, and Colleen Maloney, “Good Morning Eastern Carolina†anchor, team up to host an evening of delicious entertainment.
The festivities begin at the wine tasting and cheese bar where you won’t want to miss the opportunity to taste an absolute perfect pairing to Alicia’s Shrimp and Grits entrée. Move from the wine tasting to your table and feast your eyes on a delectable demonstration of the evening’s appetizer, entrée and dessert preparation. Linger over dinner and dessert while you take in a three of the best “I Love Lucy†episodes on a theatre-size movie screen.
The evening promises something for everyone, but in honor of Emerald Isle’s 50th birthday only 50 lucky people will get a chance to take part in this unique culinary experience.
Tickets are available for purchase at Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation Community Center, 7500 Emerald Drive. Tickets are $50 per person and include wine tasting, appetizer, wine service before & after entrée, entrée, dessert, recipes, entertainment and a chance to win a classic raffle prize. Lookout Spring Road Race
This annual fitness road race in Morehead City is sponsored by the Lookout Rotary Club in Morehead City. The road race begins and ends at the Sports Center, and participants can run a 10K, 5K or 1 mile, or take part in the baby jogger race. Proceeds from the event benefit local charities and civic organizations. There is an entry fee, and families get a price break. Prizes are awarded. For information, call 252-726-5134

Fort Macon Civil War Reenactment

The event features civil war period activities performed throught the day by members of the 1st NC Volunteers. Talks on flags, uniforms, and Civil War dress are held, as well as musket firings and drills. Free to the public.
