I, too, hadn't a clue about what newborns needed, did, etc. And I'm supposedly this ealry childhood person, professionally, for the past 10+ years. Gimme a 3 to 5 year old and I can do it....gimme a newborn and I am LOST! Of course, now ...I'm a bit more skilled after Cohen, but I hear ya! And I'm proud of you for admitting it, too. I think too many of us let our pride get in the way and therefore suffer more than necessary. And, as I'm sure you've found out, everyone's got an opinion and some stronger than others. That's why I try to only offer advice if someone aks, otherwise I try to just comment and discuss what we did with Cohen in case it helps. Simply knowing someone else is/was in the same boat always helped me. It was the people that told me I NEEDED or MUST do something a particular way, or the people that said "my baby slept through the night at 6 weeks old" that irritated me. Jealous, of course, about the sleeping thing!! LOL

Love this! :-)
2 books out of 3 were our sanity savers! I don't have the baby whisperer one but my friend does and often gave me good advice (like the pick up put down method, etc)
Another great book to read is The Fussy Baby Book by dr Sears, which is the book that clued me in that Alexandre might have some hidden medical reason for his eating/sleeping/fussiness pattern...now if only his pediatrician had trusted my instinct and not dismissed it for 15 months and thinking bou bou was simply "ornery" *sigh*

We're on compound Zantac along with Prevacid solutabs and the solutabs are more expensive than the Prevacid syrup was! The syrup had cost 260$ for almost 6 weeks and the solutabs are 268$ for 30 days :-( So expensive... we haven't met our (ridiculously high) deductible which is why we pay this price, argh.

Reflux sucks. Most newborns outgrow it either when they start solids or thickened feeds between 4 and 6 months or within the first year. I sure hope Jacob outgrows it sooner than my boy! Hang in there mama! (hug)
